It should be good.

I'll try and record it worst case, seeing as there's utter crap on TV around that time anyway. At least this way I'll have something to watch, rather than repeats of Kerri-Anne.

Every article I've read said that they all are. I don't like it when it's not all of them, two or three is good, but I love it when all of them do stuff.

I would like them to replace the usual "Rage" theme music with something else.  Anything else!  That music is the reason I tend not to watch Rage; it drives me into one.

The guy who made the theme for RAGE The Chaser's studio director, Mark Fitzgerald. Actually, I don't think he does it anymore. But he used to.

Chas was too busy (I think) plus his and Andrew's music selections were too weird apparently, Andrew had some pre-recorded clips and Chris, Jules and Craig will do the actual thing... Supposedly.

Heh, I heard Chas on triple j some time (last year?) programming an hour of shall we say... slightly 'odd' music. It included that 'do the bartman' song by Bart Simpson, which is on youtube if anyone's in the mood...

Pity he missed out on programming Rage, it would've made for a few interesting choices  :-D

Haha, yeah. Thats why i'm a bit miffed he's not on it.

If Andrew is supposedly not going to be hosting it, and only did some 'pre-recorded links'.. why was he on the commercial?

11:45 to 4:30 is pretty damn long...

ha ha, that's not an odd choice for me at all :)

i find it strange how andrew's supposed to be the musical one of the group, yet he won't be doing the whole thing. so what if his choices were 'odd'? i've seen some pretty fucked up shit on rage over the years, surely the songs weren't that bad.

Ill probably skim through it to see what songs were chosen.

My favourite part of Paul's 'Coming Up' video is the face he pulls when he's playing the drummer. That was funny.

I agree. Wasn't worth staying up for.

I am watching it now, Recorded it last night

I am watching it all but fast forwarding through some of the songs. One that stood out for me.. was this one.

BRUCE Super Swinging 70's (Half A Cow)

.. if anyone watched the film clip it was by CAMERON BRUCE!! u konw from the side show! and GUD. anyway it was good and it had Steve Abbott (aka the sandman in it)

There were probably half a dozen songs which I really liked the film clips for, so yeah its not too bad really. I think if i had watched it last night I would of been over it fairly quickly tho.

ugh, i sat up through the whole thing. i knew the playlist was up before hand, but i didn't look at it as i wanted to be surprised. most of it was utter shit until towards the end.

i really want to know who chose '6 months in a leaky boat' by split enz, my favourite band of all time 8) same goes with 'veronica' by elvis costello, my fave song by him. after sitting through a heap of crap songs (and the occasional good one), i was very glad when these songs were played :-D

I noticed that too. They were pratically on top of eachother.

As Craig mentioned, Rage needs a bigger budget.

Well, you know how the show really ran out of material towards the end...it got so bad they couldn't even say "This is the Chaser, you're watching Rage" in more than one way.

i'm gathering this was the first time you have ever watched rage. they do little intros like that to let people know who is guest programming and to remind drunk and/or drugged-up people what show they are watching.

let me guess, you would rather watch video hits? I personally would rather watch video clips of some good music, rather than whatever crap they call music made it into the top 10 this week

I don't watch video hits either. I really can't stand top 40 music. The music that I like is usually the music by unheard of bands who are only really successful in America. I love Fall Out Boy but I liked them before the top ten (if they count as top ten).

... Who's that in your avatar? The Panic! lead bummer!? Hmmm top ten.... Fall Out Boy... Panic!... I'm going to take a stab in the dark and also say... The Academy Is.. ?

If you're going to say "unheard of bands who are only really successful in America." you could at least name a band that hasn't been plastered across our screen. Say, maybe Cobra Starship? Are you Paramore fan? I'd like it if she died, although I suppose they're pretty popular too.

So pretty much you're one of the remaining scene kids. They're just people who follow the American charts instead of the Aussie ones.

Perhaps a little delayed in my post here, and I did only watch until about 1.30 (I was taping it, only to wake up the next morning to realise the audio cable hadn't been plugged in properly and so I had 4 1/2 hours of video clips with no sound.......) but I thought they picked some pretty good songs

....and they played The Smiths :-D
This Charming Man has, without a doubt the best opening riff of all time.

How am I scene from liking American bands i'm sorry if Australia has no metal, punk or alternative bands. Well excluding Parkway Drive and I Killed The Prom Queen they rock by the way and I support them. Yes Brendon Urie is my dp and he is the lead singer I didn't even understand what you called him. Oh some bands that haven't been plastered on your screen or whatever are Saosin, The All-American Rejects, Arma Angelus, Aiden, Cute Is What We Aim For, Hawthorne Heights (might have heard of them though) yeah the list goes on.

Typical Emo teenager music. Not even worth the money people pay for the cd to listen to some of those so-called bands.
Rage at least has a lot more diversity, and watching it just because of the chaser is a bit sad.

Fueled By Ramen rocks and Decaydance best label ever. As if Emo music oh well everyone has their own opinions and I personally don't think those band cds are a waste of money. I know it's sad but I wanted to laugh at something and yeh they make me laugh so wasn't really sad but happy lol. Yeah I know I'm weird. No I haven't heard of that shop and no I don't really talk to American scene kids. Besides it's wrong to class people as something just because of the music they listen to or the clothes they wear.

I have seen everyone of those bands, with a clip on Rage. Except Cute Is What We Aim For, and Arma Angelus (for obvious reaosn with the latter band).

And a couple of those bands have evenhosted Rage.  :-o

No I haven't heard of that shop and no I don't really talk to American scene kids. Besides it's wrong to class people as something just because of the music they listen to or the clothes they wear.

You should look it up, seriously. It's got a myspace and stuff. I just presumed you're a Melbournian, so if you're not, then pardon me, you wouldn't have heard of it.

You express yourself with what you wear, how else are you meant to be classed, not every single person is going to talk to everyone. It usually how people become friends, and form groups, which become cliques. You like their pants, their top, their band top hey you like the band so you talk to them.

Thats true with the class thing I just hate it when people always look down on people because they are different and tease them and think the people are weird.

I usually don't watch any music show and I didn't know them bands got played, usually when i've flicked over to it they have been playing songs that I didn't particularly like. Maybe I will watch it some day...  :-)

I'm not trying to look down on you, I just think it's poor form to say Aus doesn't have any decent alt/punk.metal bands.

I would PM you with this but you don't got enough posts so I'm not sure if it'll go through

This link (http://www.last.fm/music/I+Killed+the+Prom+Queen) is a link to a site called last.fm, it's the I Killed The Prom Queen last.fm page, down the left side there it says "similar artist." This means, people who have listened to Prom Queen, have also listened to these other bands as well. Most of them are Australia (in fact I think all of them), and all of them are of the same genre as Prom Queen. You can hear 30 second snippets of songs from bands to see if you like it. Play around on that site, and you'll find some good Aussie gold around there.

Was it Chris who picked The Stone Roses? I missed it, (though did have it taped on dvd without sound!) but read the playlist later. She Bangs The Drums is definitely one of their top songs :-D

Julians comment about the Smiths 'now sorry to put a damper on your new year...'
:-D loved that. I was watching old WoE dvds the other day and was watching the episode where they interview the Beaconsfield miners about what they were listening to on their iPods and one of them says "Well, I was listening to Morrissey, so I was ready to die"
Gotta love Morrissey's cheery songs

Fair enough, I love anything by The Cure but thats because they are my favourite band. However Lovecats wouldnt be in my top Favourite Cure songs.

At the moment my favourite album would be a toss up between Disintegration and Three Imaginary Boys.

Can't you just use your powers for good and ban her? It'd make the forum a nicer place for everyone.

Do it. And then start another new thread where we can actually have intelligent conversations. Need more of those and less of these around here.

Banning her for no real reason than that some of us are annoyed at her?
That would be slightly hypocritical of us, would it not?

Title: Re: copy of the Chasers war on Rage
Post by: Angua on January 10, 2008, 08:56:56 AM
just wanted to know if anyone taped the Chaser on Rage on NYE, if so i was wondering if i could get a copy on DVD or video, willing to pay money.

I taped it with Help! before it, but i missed the endign as i ran out of tape. However, I wont be able to make a copy as i used a video tape and my other recorder blew up over the weekend from too much useage. Poor thing is now in silicon heaven with the rest of the toasters. Or maybe its in silicon hell with all the photocopiers. Its probably a good thing it blew up, as its killed numerous videotapes in the passed.

I loved George Harrisons video clip of 'When we were fab'. Made me a bit teary. And John Lennon!!! Pauls video was a bit weird, but funny. Ringo's was insane.

They even had Cameron Bruce's video clip!!! Hurrah!!! What was with the piano made of meat???

The highlight was that 'kiss' though. tehe

I was surprised to see it on there. I'd seen that clip about a month or so previously, but that was on youtube, I didn't think it would be in a place where Rage could access it.

This is why I switched to a dvd recorder with an internal harddrive.

Keep the thing recording for days on end if need be..

Yes. I must upgrade my recording system. But am so broke!!!

Yeah I'd never seen the video clip before. I guess Rage had access to it through Andrew's links to Cameron and Cameron's work on the ABC through various comedy programs.

Yeah i always shead a tear for John and George.

Almost any Aussie artist who has ever made a video clip, has sent it to Rage, because it gets played at the crack of dawn, once, if not maybe once more. Rage has backlogs and backlogs of music videos, Andrew most likely didn't have anything to do with it.

Does any think by Andrew introducing the Paul McCartney clip and not the Paul Lennon clip (that was shown later on and not introduced by anyone) that he was restating an opinion he expressed in the infamous 'The Eulogy Song'?

Statement from 'The Eulogy Song': "His [John's] songs were not as quite as good Paul's"

Andrew didn't write the Eulogy Song. Chris did.

Clearly she doesn't read magazines, newspapers, the internet or even watch TV. That song was pretty much everywhere and everywhere it stated that Chris wrote the song.
