ImageBritain's decision to ban Australia's "Where the bloody hell are you?" tourism ads has been met with a torrent of abuse and expletives by outraged officials. Irate tourism minister Fran Bailey left immediately for the UK to get the ban reversed, saying "Who the fuck do they think they are?"

The jubilation was heightened as the nation simultaneously marked the tenth anniversary of Australia not being run by Paul Keating, Kim Beazley, Simon Crean or Mark Latham.

Since Mr Crean threw his weight behind the fight to save himself, support for the former Opposition Leader has slumped from "token" to "abysmal". Insiders acknowledge that Mr Crean faces a tough fight to save his career, as well as conceding that he lost the fight many years ago.

"The TGA is the wrong body to make these sorts of difficult moral decisions. Whereas the current system allows me, as an elected representative, to canvass public opinion," he said. "And then reject it to impose my own narrow religious beliefs."
