OK, you're gonna love this, I've
found another cult. And believe it or not, they're heaps better
than Hillsong or even the Scientologists.
Controlling the weather, or merely skywriting? Freedom Force knows
With these guys, it hard to know where
to start. Should I begin with their belief that AIDS does not exist,
that vaccination is genocide or that planes spray chemicals into the
atmosphere to control the weather?
No, let's start from the beginning.
They're called Freedom Force, and basically they're a political cult
of far right ‘libertarians' who hate ‘big government' and ‘collectivists'.
That's not that weird, I suppose. There's plenty of those on
the right of the liberal party – cold hearted fellas like Nick Minchin and Wilson
‘iron Bar' Tuckey.
But these guys really hate ‘collectivists' – or what they call ‘Leninists' and ‘Fabians' – two factions
of the left that apparently dominate the world's institutions.
And so the adventure begins with the Freedom Force website – a very slick portal with lots of little
video clips. What's more, the sites bamboozles simply via the
sheer volume of information – and the verbosity with which it's expressed.
They've also cleverly divided up their pseudo-scientific nutty nonsense
into ‘core' and
‘non-core' beliefs, presumably so as not to alienate the vaguely sane members of their flock, and so they don't have to substantiate the more outlandish of their philosophies.
To be a Freedom Force member you only
have to believe in core beliefs like the idea that environmentalism is being used
to steal private land in America, that an evil cabal of 'collectivists'
controls the world and the peace sign is a satanic symbol. Or
that the Soviet Union never really fell; it's just getting our guard
down by playing dead.
But it's in the non-core section, featuring whacko propaganda distributed by individual members, that
the fun starts. It's here you'll find insightful commentary
on things like:
Alien life
‘Leninists may be active within this
movement for that purpose. Nothing would suit their plans for world
domination better than to maneuver the US and the Western nations into
not deploying weapons in space while they proceeed (sic) to do exactly
that. I would be a lot more worried about space weapons controlled by
Leninists (or Fabians, for that matter) than by Galactians. While looking
above the Earth, we must not forget the realities on the surface of
it.'
The leaked plans of those who control
the world
‘We will keep their lifespan short
and their minds weak while pretending to do the opposite. We will use
our knowledge of science and technology. We will use soft metals,
aging accelerators and sedatives in food and water, also in the air.
They will be blanketed by poisons everywhere they turn. We will promise
to find a cure from our many fronts, yet we will feed them more poison.
The poisons will be absorbed through their skin and mouths, they will
destroy their minds and reproductive systems. From all this, their children
will be born dead, and we will conceal this information. We must be
ingenious in dispensing the poisons for they can see far. We will teach
them that the poisons are good, with fun images and musical tones. Those
they look up to will help. We will enlist them to push our poisons.'
On AIDS
Apparently AIDS is an invention of pharmaceutical
companies and researchers that allows them to get government money.
If fact the reason people are dying is not from AIDS but from behaviours
like drug use, stress, malnutrition, and over use of antibiotics....
So enjoy these gems. Clips require QuickTime.
My favourite quote? "Drugs used by homosexuals as aphrodisiacs
and injected drugs like heroin and cocaine...are the direct cause of
aids in nine out of ten cases."
But it wasn't until I came across this
page that I became truly scared...
It was the report of the fledging
Australian Chapter of Freedom Force...it blew my mind. I mean, it's
OK for the Yanks to have such groups...but not here. But these guys are already
running market stalls here, and members have opened a Freedom café in Sydney's
Bondi Junction.
It was then I resolved to go to one of
Freedom Force's meetings. And it was here that things got, as
Alice once said, curiouser and curiouser. And I'll tell you
all about that next week.
Related Nut jobs
Freedom Force is loosely affiliated with
a whole lot of other crazies...and Chaser intern Danika Armytage has
ploughed through the best of them to give you a quick rundown, which follows. (Tim, how on earth did you come by a Chaser intern? – Dom)
Oh, and for those of you who are low-culture enough to want a BB rundown, I'm doing a blog on the Whowebsite and a video podcast here.

This site believes
banks are the evil controllers of the world and seeks to end their tyrannical
reign through a legal technicality. The word ‘variable,'
according to those at ‘Rights and Wrong', means ‘uncertain'
and ‘certain' means ‘not variable'. This means all loans
with variable interest rates are invalid - making all banks "common
law criminals." The site supports this thesis with explanations of
democracy and apparent legal loopholes.
This site is
dedicated to seeking natural alternatives to Chemo and Radiotherapy
through vitamin B17 which is found in apricot kernels. However B17 is
illegal. This is because the pharmaceutical multinationals cannot own
the rights to B17 and have therefore launched a propagandist attack
on the cancer-combating effects of the vitamin. This site is very comprehensive
with links to media reports which discuss B17, success stories and forums.
This site promotes
‘land rent' which is the taxation of land, regardless of its geographic
position or what buildings are upon it. The logic behind this theory
is that improvements to land are a product of man's hard work so taxation
of these improvements is theft - "most taxation is therefore theft."
The introduction of ‘land rent' would replace all other forms of
tax. According to the site this form of taxation has the handy site
effect of solving most of the world's problems. God Himself is said
to have personally approved this course of action.
One word -
unbelievable ... actually I'm wondering if this is someone's idea
of a joke. UPMART (United People Movement Against Road Tolls) was established
in Victoria in 1998 and has the mission statement to uphold and protect
alienable human rights. UPMART intends to end all forms of road tolls
(or as the founder likes to call them, ‘toad tolls'), demand that
fluoride be taken out of Australia's drinking water and claims they
can lower petrol costs to 25 cents a litre!
This website
requires a good day's reading, however after spending several hours
scouring the fine print, I've still got a pretty foggy idea about
what this cult actually stands for and how this translates into action.
At first glance, ‘Freedom Force' appears idealistic and user-friendly
(if not a little Utopian), based on the sound principles of personal
freedom, equity amongst humanity and uncovering corruption in government
agenda. Fair enough. But upon further reading it seems Freedom Force
has a penchant for conspiracy theories. They believe that the USA sponsored
the Pearl Harbour attacks in order to enter WWI and more recently engineered
terrorist attacks such as 9/11 to achieve world domination. They believe
that the UN is divided into two groups, the Leninists who sponsor terrorism
against the US, in order to provoke war, which will eventually deplete
the US military strength so that China and Russia may take communist
control of the world, and Fabianists who more simply seek American world
domination. They also have some interesting theories on vaccines, mobile
phones, internet censorship, illegal immigrants and mind control chips.
‘Cure Zone'
is another self medicating website which promotes "educating instead
of medicating." The site has thousands of ‘support forums,' debate
forums and disease definitions.
SPA (Sustainable
Population Australia) believe overpopulation is a dangerous threat and
aim to promote government policies that will stabilise Australia's
population by encouraging near replacement fertility rates and low immigration
rates - amongst other things.
This site is
also concerned about overpopulation, and places particular emphasis
on third world countries. The Population Institute is concerned about
overpopulation as an environmental threat and a drain on natural resources.
It promotes international aid supporting birth control facilities and
education.
[Article]Battle of the Cults Part 3: Freedom Force FairGo May 4th, 2008 - 11:22 AMHay that Upmart thing doesn't sound so nutty to me. Wanting to end road tolls, stop forced fluoridation and reduce petrol prices all sound like worthy objectives.
My current pet hate is the state government's fluoridation push. The government's wants to add another chemical to my water in spite of my loud objections, with the intention of altering the structure of a body part of our entire population - now *that's* nutty.
Even if this Upmart thing is right out there looking odd because they're trying something new, it's only because no-one else has the nuts to try.
Anyway, there are even weirdos who think the Chaser guys are nutters. Sheesh. Imagine that.
Re: [Article]Battle of the Cults Part 3: Freedom Force Mez May 5th, 2008 - 12:06 AMWhy are you objecting to fluoridation? That seems insane to me. My children have never had a filling - never. Not one. By the time I was their age (pre-fluoridation), I had dozens. It really does reduce the incidence of tooth decay.
I know it's just another chemical in the water to you, but think of all the children who will have to endure fillings if they don't have it.
You can always filter your water. Anything that takes out chlorine will remove fluorine too.

Re: [Article]Battle of the Cults Part 3: Freedom Force Mez May 6th, 2008 - 3:09 AM That must be the reason! I take back what I said about fluoride.
Also, Brita filters apparently (from their advertising) take out chlorine but not fluoride. My mistake.
