John Howard has declined to withdraw his comments about Barack Obama’s policy on Iraq, claiming that cutting and running from the fight with the prospective Presidential nominee would only embolden the Democrats.
Howard has expressed support for bringing Obama home The Prime Minister also pointed out that his stance on Obama is in keeping with his Government’s long-term policy of refusing to apologise to blacks.
The Prime Minister claimed that Osama bin Laden would be praying for the Democrats to win, something that the al Qaeda leader was quick to deny. “I have always supported Bush. He was the one that made our operatives welcome in Iraq,” he said. “Also, a Democrat President might actually look for me.”
Obama called Howard’s words “empty rhetoric”, and then expanded on Howard’s comments with an inspirational speech on his usual theme of "the audacity of hope", moving his audience to tears and once again successfully hiding his lack of political experience.
Leaders from both major US parties have warned Howard to stay out of the campaign, saying that only the CIA has the right to interfere in other countries’ elections. But the Prime Minister argues that given Kevin Rudd’s current poll figures, he should focus his efforts on a race that the conservative side of politics actually has a chance of winning.
Some critics have suggested that the Prime Minister’s unprecedented interference may threaten Australia’s close alliance with the US. But both Howard and Rudd have denied this, committing Australia to remain equally subservient to whichever party is in the White House.

February 28th, 2007 - 9:35 PM However doubt has shrouded Mr Howard's comments after reporters from The Chaser's War on Everything asked President Bush to drink a glass of water while Mr Howard listed three reasons why Obama would make a shotty president.
Mr Bush refused to drink the water as the United States is currently on terror alert level 3, and after level 2 the president refuses to drink anything but his own urine.
Adding to the speculation were the usual wires which hung over Mr Howard's limbs, though he again shrugged them off as microphone insulation. Eyebrows were also raised after the Prime Minister addressed the press with "My fellow Austrians."
