The red Thorpedo will be the centrepiece of the new line Fresh from his
work with fashion designers Giorgio Armani and Paspale Pearls, Ian
Thorpe is now consulting with a group of high-end European chemists to
design a new range of stimulants "for the modern man". The new
range of drugs will include "Thorpedo" and "gold medal"
branded ecstasy tablets suitable for "parties, nightclubs and any
other situation where people need their performance enhanced."
Thorpe's existing
range of energy drinks will also be expanded, to include a new
"Thorpedo Ice" line.
The decision comes
as the swimmer strives to be cleared from doping allegations, which
he describes as "the only time I've ever been accused of having too
much testosterone." The swimmer says that when he first heard
about press reports of his drug use, he began physically shaking.
"It's the only time drugs have made me shake when I'm not taking them,"
he said.
While not everyone
approves of his new business, Thorpe's chief sponsor, Adidas, is
vowing to stand by him throughout the controversy. "We're going to
give Ian our full support, and he will continue to wear our products
in public," said a spokesman. "He's already asked to model our
shiny tracksuits and matching gym bags." Adidas is not the only
company interested. P & O Cruises say they are considering
putting the products in their mini-bars, and the West Coast Eagles
will use the energy drinks on and off the field.
Swimming Australia
fear the drugs could damage Thorpe's reputation more than any number
of Uncle Toby's ads. "We're not sure Ian is sending the right
message. Although if he could send it to Craig Stevens, that would be
appreciated."
Thorpe refused to
answer questions on whether or not amyl nitrite would part of the
product line.

When testing him for drugs, does that mean they're testing Thorpee? You know... I've never drunk that Thorpedo branded sports water... but now that you have put *that* image into my head I'll find it even easier to resist the urge... | Re: [Article]Ian Thorpe releases range of designer drugs zac backs May 2nd, 2007 - 9:06 AM also funny how he denies being gay but then releases a fragrance called "Thorpey for men" | [Article]Ian Thorpe releases range of designer drugs CrackedPepper May 2nd, 2007 - 11:57 PM It'd be something else for the Japanese tourists to savour. | (14) comments |
