Sunrise has attempted to deflect criticism by pointing out that the planned event was carbon-neutral. But Virginia Tech authorities remain unsatisfied. "We're a little surprised that Mr Rudd would put himself forward to give a reading. And we're not sure who David Koch is, but he wasn't our first choice for MC."

Having backed away from the bogus event, Mr Rudd will instead appear on Sunrise's high-rating US equivalent, the NBC Today show. "I'm there to convey the message that Australia stands by these people in their hour of need," he said. "I've already written it on a sign, and I'll be holding it up outside the window. Let the healing begin."

The Opposition Leader says that he hopes some good will come of the massacre. "I hope that we can learn something from this tragedy about this troubled young man, and how he was able to garner such an extraordinary amount of media attention."

Downer just looks bigger 'cause the fishnet stocking he wears tend to 'give an impression of bulk in that region', or they help 'define his thighs'. There's a few 'second coming' lines I could drag out, but I'm just leaving them alone for now. Jesus Downer, Jesus!
